Sip Sweet with a Limited Release Detroit Collab You Don’t Want to Miss

Michigan’s fantastic local food system wouldn’t be what it is without relationships, cooperation, and shared vision, so it’s no surprise that TLD partners are collaborating to create some special bottles this holiday season. Bees in the D and Detroit City Distillery (DCD) have come together to marry sweet Detroit honey with artisanal bourbon made with ingredients from local farms. Single-barrel Honey Bourbon and Bourbon-barrel Aged Honey are here to help you stay warm through our Michigan winter.

Bees in the D co-founder, Brian Peterson-Roest explains, “because the summer was hot with lots of sunshine and rain, bees everywhere had a fantastic season, creating bumper crops of honey at many of our apiaries, including the two we manage on top of the Distillery.” Honey from beehives on the DCD Whiskey Factory roof spends three months in oak bourbon barrels offering a one-of-a-kind flavor. “The honey we aged in the Distillery’s barrels absorbed the aroma of the bourbon and the oak barrel, while still featuring the floral elements of Detroit’s wildflower honey.”

Similarly, the honey has a pleasant effect on the bourbon.

“It’s a bold bourbon with a sweet, floral hit of raw honey that is wonderful, enjoyed neat, over ice or makes an incredible Old-Fashioned,” says Michael Forsyth, co-owner of Detroit City Distillery. Forsyth adds that this limited edition spirit sells out every year and “has become a true fan favorite, perfect for the holidays.”

One of the best things about this partnership is that it is a lasting one. Bees in the D and Detroit City Distillery are committed to producing quality products that contribute to the dynamic food system in Detroit and beyond.

If you’re as excited as we are to try these bottles, set an alarm for 8:00 a.m. on Friday, November 26th so you can order yours for pick-up in December.
